You ever just.
Lock yourself in your room for like a month and forget what time is? I mean, I guess I ate at least, and I didn't just fall asleep for a whole freakin' month like after the Medjed thing but
like
a whole. Month. Least it was fruitful.
Which uh, leads me to my actual question: who has some technology here with 'em? Phones, laptops, things that require a power source cause I think I figured out some dream crystal things, but it might require a more... ambient dream energy. Dunno how THAT is gonna be harnessed yet, but I need to know my many sleepless nights and curryless days weren't for nothing. Testing on my own stuff is fine, but knowing it's not just a fluke is even better.

[Oh, this does sound promising though...]
What is it? If it's something that runs on power I can probably charge it, but if it's something else, I can always take a look at it.
no subject
I don't mind you tinkering with it at all! We can meet up this afternoon or tomorrow if you'd like! Whatever's easiest for you. Wait, did you want to meet up for lunch or dinner or something? My treat! I feel like after a whole month in your room, you definitely deserve something good to eat!
[ Oh my god, how does she even explain this thing-- ]
So I haven't actually ever seen it in action, but he's super attached to it. It's a device he created himself, actually. He's pretty into tech too. Anyways, it's a virtual reality thingy for a game he plays.
no subject
[Hmmm, the more she hears about this thing, the more she's intrigued. A virtual reality thing? He created it himself? Sounds like they could be friends, maybe!]
Oooh... now I really gotta see this thing. Just from your description it sounds like something I'd want to see for myself.
no subject
[ Not that... she has a whole lot to offer at the moment, but dammit, she can try! ]
It looks kinda big and uncomfortable but he carries it with him everywhere. Sometimes I swear if I let him go to bed with it, he would. I'll talk to him when he comes home, you two actually have a little bit in common! He's uh, not the friendliest soul though, I gotta just put that out there right now.
no subject
[Okay maybe not everything, but enough things.]
Ahh one of those: the beloved piece of tech. I'll keep that in mind, but hopefully maybe we can work together! I can only do so much, even I hit walls sometimes. Buuuut I'll see you at Wild Harvest for some grub and to catch up!
[She'll hop on out, loitering around outside of Wild Harvest in her typical Futaba Squat™. Once Ann comes into view and is close enough, waves with a giant smile on her face.]
no subject
[ That's also a really sad truth, but really, at least nothing will get wasted! ]
I'm pretty sure the prospect of getting power to it will be enough to get that thing unattached to his person for a little while. No worries, I'll make sure he understands! [ Understands that Futaba is one of her very best friends and like a little sister and if he's a dick to her he's going to be facing more than sleeping on the fucking couch-- ] Great! See you soon!
[ It does take her a little bit to find the place, but once she does, she has to pause for a split second. It's not the place she's looking at, though, it's Futaba, whose looking just as bright and cheery as she remembers. It causes a lump to form in her throat for a second, even as she waves in return and makes her way over. Except her walk turns quickly into a jog, and then a run before she tosses her arms around poor Futaba and squeezes her gently. ]
I'm so glad to see you... you have no idea.
no subject
It's been waaaay too long! It's so nice to have you here with us again here, it hasn't been the same without you here.
[But now that she is, they can have lunch and catch up... it's like having a big sister here.]
You'll have to tell me where you've been! It doesn't sound like you stayed in Shibuya huh?
no subject
I'm super glad to be here, not gonna lie. This place is way better than the last couple of places I've been stuck.
[ Even if her memories of that first location are more than a little fuzzy. Whatever, it doesn't matter. ]
Definitely not Shibuya, that's for sure. Come on, let's go in and sit down and I'll tell you all about it. It's, uh... definitely been wild.
no subject
Oh man, you gotta tell me about it then! I can tell you about the Index too, and how I got to do the windy thing and I was Sherlock Holmes' big brother. Well, kinda. I had some neat power from his... story essence? Anyway, heck yeah, let's hop in and I'll bully Kazuma to get us good seats hehe.
[...she probably won't have to, but once they're in and seated in a nice, cozy place, she promptly orders the huge gyudon bowl and leans back, ready for the meatocalypse, idly petting the cats that decide to come over and investigate them.]
So tell me tell me tell me!
no subject
[ Which is weird to talk about, too, because boy has it been a Hot Minute™ since she's had to even think about that sort of thing. She follows Futaba inside and settles in across from her, quietly ordering the same along with an iced coffee, before she turns back towards her friend and smiles again. ]
So, this is kinda a long story, but uh... well, I ended up in this place that everyone called the Void. Ren and Goro were there, too. They'd been there longer than me, actually. I was there for almost a year, and I made a bunch of new friends. Then I got sent home, went on a road trip with you guys and had NO memory of the other place, then somehow ended up in another place called Havenwell. One of my uh, friends, ended up in the same place too. The same friend whose here with me now, in fact.
[ She laughs a little, waving a hand. ]
I guess the legit tl;dr of all of this, is I haven't seen you in at least a solid two years. I guess the universe enjoys dragging me all over the place.
no subject
But she settles in to listen to Ann, ooh-ing and aah-ing over the information. A new place? Ren and Jerkechi were there, for a longer time than Ann? Huh, Ren's been here since she arrived, even before in the Index! But they're dreaming, so... maybe he's dreaming while being in that Void?!]
A road trip? I don't remember a road trip, but it sounds fun! What did we do? We had to have eaten great food though, right? [again, priorities] But hey! You're here now, and there's at least five of us here together! We just need the others and we'll all be whole again! What was Havenwell like? The Void sounds... uh, void-y, probably spooky, but Havenwell sounds nice, like some old timey western neighbourhood.
no subject
Yep, about six months after Ren went home, he came back for summer vacation and we all went on a really cool road trip. We did eat a TON of great food! We hit all of the major cities in Japan, but uh, we also ran into trouble along the way because of course we did. The Phantom Thieves had to come out of retirement... then again, are we ever really retired?
[ The answer is no, probably, because shit could [and will] hit the fan again, especially so now that they're here. ]
Havenwell was... uh, it was quaint. Robotic neighbors, no money so you had to like, hug and hold hands to earn money. It was really... awkward. Nice people, but super awkward. Especially when your very unaffectionate friend finds out that he can make money by holding your hand and suddenly decides to be real affectionate and thinks I'm dumb enough not to know what he's doing...
[ Granted, it was hilarious at the time, and it still is. She's never letting Seto down for that. ]
...I'm gonna stop beating around the bush, he's not my friend, he's my boyfriend but you didn't hear that from me because he gets weird when I tell people even though it's been two years.
no subject
[A vacation from being a wanted criminal... it's nice. :)]
I dunno if I could do the affection thing, that sounds really—
[WAIT, SHE HEARD WORDS COME FROM ANN'S MOUTH, and Futaba stops mid-sentence, eyes wide and mouth agape, Futaba.exe has encountered an error]
no subject
[Her hands slam on the table and she stands quickly, amazed and very ????? over this information.]
YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND?! But wait, why would he get WEIRD about you dating?! You're beautiful! And nice! And thoughtful! He should be proud! "Yes, my girlfriend is the BEST and PRETTIEST and you should be jealous of how WONDERFUL she is! I'm gonna hold her hand SO MUCH because she deserves it!"
[Ann is THE BEST and he shouldn't be awkward about it!!!]
no subject
[ She. ]
Don't be silly, you're a super affectionate friend! You are to me, at least--
[ Oh, wow. Ann blinks at poor Futaba's outburst, and she can feel her cheeks heating up at both how loud it is and also, how sweet her words are, too. ]
That's so kind of you to say, but really, it's okay! It's not that he's embarrassed or anything, he's just... he has a reputation in his home world and I think he feels the need to try and keep that here. Or anywhere he's at, for whatever reason. He's not exactly uh, the sort of person I ever expected to be with.
[ Oh, lord. How to explain this-- ]
...If I didn't know him the way I know him now, and if we were all at home and he was there too? He'd be someone we'd be looking to target. Let's just put it that way. But once you get to know him he's not really like that? Er! I'm not trying to shit talk him or anything, I promise! He's actually SUPER COOL once you get to know him! And to be fair, I'm a million percent sure he never expected to end up with someone like me, either. He's a super genius and his big words really confuse me most of the time!
no subject
...but she does eventually cross her arms in a huff.]
As long as he doesn't hurt you, 'cause I'll totally get Ren to beat him up, and I'll... I'll hack something of his. [She can respect that they like each other, just not that he's not Will Smith posing at Ann every chance he gets.] I'll let it drop, I guess but if he's ever really mean to you, you tell me!
[She has no idea what she could do, but for Ann, she would do something.]
But we really made friends with a cop? [And just in normal Futaba things... just gonna let it go into everything else Ann said, because WHAT.] And 'she'? An app is a she? Now you're really gonna have to explain stuff, 'cause whaaaaaat? I don't think Ren, Sumire and me have an app called EMMA on our phones now... or was it like, right before the trip it came out?
no subject
Thanks! Aha, don't worry about me. It's true, we fight like cats and dogs sometimes, but we do love each other. We're just... polar opposites in every way. You'll... you'll see. [ And oh, what a glorious mess that'll be, probably. Because Ann's already predicting that Seto's going to be rude as fuck to her friends and then she's going to explode on him as per usual and declare 'couch time' loudly in his face, and then he'll go storming out and slam the door... good times, good times. ] I appreciate it! I'll definitely let you know, but I promise, you don't have anything to worry about!
[ Poor Futaba, the look on her face at the mention of Zenkichi is a little more than hilarious, but she nods enthusiastically. ] We did make friends with a cop! Gramps is super helpful. He's got a really cool Persona, too, and we call him Wolf. Oh! Yeah, EMMA is uh... was? Kind of [ FUCKED UP-- ] sort of maybe a phone app that went entirely wrong and was used to screw with the masses and then decided that it was a God. Once we get power to my phone, I'll show you! Honestly, we took her down so I doubt that the app even works but, y'know... it worked sorta the same as the original app we all had. That one is not on my phone, though.
