To my fellow residents of Reverein,

It seems time has gotten away from me and Goddess Day is already fast approaching. Goddess Day is a Hyrulean holiday that falls around the same time of year as [ What was the name of that holiday from last winter's dreamscape? ] Christmas, where we traditionally share gifts with our loved ones.

This year, I have decided to give a book of cooking recipes to my knight, Link. It seems he has an appreciation for cooking that equals his appreciation for eating! I thought at first to simply purchase such a book or acquire one from the wishing well in trade for one of my baubles, but then I devised a much better idea.

As there are many accomplished chefs among our number, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share a few of their recipes with me. I am especially interested in recipes that originate from your homeworld; I would love to compile a collection of recipes as diverse as our community. And the more challenging, the better! Link is far more skilled than I knew and I should not like to bore him with recipes designed for beginners.

I cannot recall a time I heard Link express any dislike for a food. Well, save that he prefers his foodstuffs already deceased before consuming them, so recipes involving live creatures probably would not go over well. [ What kind of recipes are you imagining, Zelda?? ] But I am confident he has no allergies or dietary restrictions. Link has an almost inhuman capability to eat anything put in front of him without issue.

[ A recipe using spiders might be perfect for someone like Link, who would probably try any food once. ]

I see, an iron stomach and an open mind. I've spent a considerable amount of time living off the land in winter, so I might have a few unique recipes that he would be interested to try.

Unique recipes would be perfect! Before he arrived here, Link was also living entirely off the land. I don't doubt he had to make do with all manner of unusual foodstuffs during his travels.

Ah, excellent. I may have to reach out to him for recipes of his own sometime. It's always beneficial to speak with others who similarly live off the land.

As for the recipe book, perhaps the first suggestion I would have to offer is for goulash. Where I'm from, it's a staple for keeping warm in even the coldest environments.

I'm sure Link would be quite happy to share some of his recipes with you. He has quite the repertoire! Although, if you do contact him before Godde Christmas, please do not tell him where you got the idea. He is more perceptive than he appears.

I don't believe I have heard of 'goulash' before. That sounds very useful though.

Goulash is a type of soup where I'm from. A very hearty one, with meat, potatoes, and other vegetables. It calls for a special kind of meat, but I'm sure we can find something comparable here.

What kind of meat does it require? There are quite a number of unusual creatures in the Wildlands. Hopefully identifying a substitution will not be too difficult.

It calls for chilled boar meat. In Mondstadt, the icy climes of Dragonspine was the only place to find such boars, but perhaps here the same effect may be achieved through Dreamotion.

Well, if 'chilled' refers to the temperature of the meat, then that should be an easy enough substitution to make. But if 'chilled' refers to a particular breed of boar, that may pose more of a challenge.

The breed shouldn't matter, so long as we can find one in a temperature cold enough before it's slain. However, we may be able to create the right temperature with magic if needed.

Colder than the weather is at present?

[ Midwinter in Songerein is pretty cold, enough so that snow has been sticking on the ground and will likely continue to pile up as the month goes on. But it's possible that Mondstadt's Dragonspine gets a lot colder than this. That's the case in Hyrule's Hebra region, after all. ]

Colder even than this weather, yes. Dragonspine is one of the coldest places in Teyvat, save perhaps only Snezhnaya, the kingdom of ice itself.

[ Its cold is too much for most adventurers, if they aren't prepared for it. ]

[ Aha, sounds like it's similar to Hebra. But not only that... ]

Another responder gave me several recipes from Snezhnaya, now that you mention it. You both hail from the same homeworld, then.

Oh, is that so? That must have been Childe. Yes, we both hail from Teyvat, although I never met him before arriving here.

[ Even if he had definitely heard of him before. ]

I take it that Dragonspine and Snezhnaya are near each other, then.

Still, it must be nice to have someone from your homeland here with you, even if you'd never met before. Everyone in Reverein is friendly and kind, but it was still a bit lonely before Link arrived.

I'm fortunate that there are several here from my home world that I know quite well. I understand that isn't the case for many, but I'm glad you have someone important to you here as well.

Thank you. I am truly lucky to have him at my side again.

[ Zelda could ramble on about Link all day, but that's not what this is about. ]

Excuse me, I got a bit sidetracked. We were discussing the necessary weather conditions for chilled boar meat.

[ She would be welcome to, too - Albedo enjoys listening more than talking, but they do have a task at hand. ]

Ah, yes. If we're able to capture a boar, I believe using Dreamotion magic, we may be able to chill it just right. That, or we could ask a Cryo vision user like Kaeya to use his ice abilities to do so.

[ Using dreamotion magic would also require competent dreamotion user—something Zelda definitely is not. Hopefully Albedo is more skilled with it than the princess. ]

Cryo vision? Is that a sort of magic in your homeland?

That's correct. Or rather, A Vision is a conduit that allows the wielder to use elemental skills. I myself have a Geo Vision, and can manipulate the element of earth.

How fascinating! Are people born with a Vision or are they able to develop it through training? Is it possible to have multiple Visions at once? Are Vision users common in your realm of rare?

[ Fortunately for them both, he finds this a fascinating subject to discuss as well. ]

Visions are considered favors of the gods, which are only earned through deeds in life, though the criteria for earning one seem wildly inconsistent from what I’ve observed. Myself, for instance, was granted one simply while doing ordinary research. They are relatively uncommon, and I’ve never heard of anyone with more than one, though there are some who also use multiple Delusions, which are man-made Visions. Those tend to have negative side-effects, however.

[ "Research," you say? That doesn't go unnoticed by Zelda. ]

That is very interesting, because a similar phenomenon occurs in my world as well. Throughout my kingdom's history, there have been those who were blessed by the gods with exceptional talents or magics. No one knows exactly how the gods chose their favored, but those people often destined for greatness and play pivotal roles in the kingdom's history. In my lifetime, I was lucky to know five such individuals, but usually, those blessed by the gods are few and far between. It is not unusual for multiple generations to pass without anyone manifesting a blessing.

Is that so? It seems the gods of both our realms deem mortals worth possessing a bit of their power. In the case of Teyvat, it similarly holds true that Vision wielders tend to hold influential positions or have auspicious backgrounds, but to imagine that only a handful of Visions might exist at a time, or none at all...

Needless to say, it would be a very different place. I'm sure the same holds true for your kingdom, if there were more blessings of the gods.
