Well… Erm, in a way I suppose that they are the sea equivalent of bugs. I mean, they eat, they swim wherever they want, and they don’t seem to notice most of their surroundings. Most of the time.

So, um… That means that they are probably at the bottom of the underwater life food cycle along with plankton and algae, I guess.

(Sorry Futuba: underwater zoology is not within Isabela’s forte so she is pretty clueless on the matter at hand.)

Not really? It depends on how you want to classify bugs, and scientists are still working on that. I think some research says they might be related, but it's likely from something so distant that you wouldn't consider them to be much alike these days.

Scientifically speaking, they are crustaceans and while there are a couple that could be seen as bugs in the classification, typically, no.

They also have too many legs and no thorax.
