A question, if I may... Does anyone look out to a formal settlement and find it altogether too dazzling at times? Or, mayhap even too much to trust that it is on offer with nearly no strings attached?
[ hm, likely not a great opener. Yuki tries again, maybe something lighter will work better. ]
Pray forgive the overly serious tone, I was once told to, as she put it, "LIGHTEN UP AND STAY IN THE HOUSE, STOP SNEAKING OUT AND SLEEPING IN THE GARDEN" before coming here.
It is something of a ...

sender: Yuki Tayuun (so sorry for glacial pace, health stuff!)
The root of the issue seems to be that others do not like the idea and find it worrying. I believe I have caused offense in the past by declining an offer to stay overnight in a special guest suite?
Quite alright! Hope the health stuff in question improves. ;a;
[ Is he trying to say he's homeless...? That's a bit concerning, but she's not quick to stick to any assumptions. ]
I see. Well, upsetting other people usually isn't for the better.
Have you tried explaining to them why you do it?
[ If... that explanation would be at all comforting in the first place, that is. ]
thank you, it is, slowly!
[ which says essentially nothing of value, and while he might have been content to block out some with that alone, she certainly deserves much better than non-answers. ]
How do I say it if not simply speaking the heart of it..? It was tradition for young males to be cast out of town when we came of age. To learn to survive in the wilderness was expectation, your granted position should you manage it. It is something not so easily forgotten.
Good to hear!
To some people, that would sound like a punishment.
[ It does to her, too - traditional or not. She's trying to keep an open mind, but... ]
And even if you're used to it, that's not the same thing as being happy.
[ Which means that when it comes down to it, the real question is, ]
Do you like sleeping outside?
[ Or is all the pure force of habit? ]
very much, and thank you! <3
[ therein lies a long story, one he hesitates to so boldly share with someone showing him care in this matter. ]
When the place you knew as "home" becomes as a fortress you are tasked with guarding, and one that can no longer be yours unconditionally, then... yes, wilderness seems inviting, and is a happier place to be.
[ in solitude, he bites his lip. had that been too much? this matter so often is, he thinks, thus- ]
I do mean to learn to adjust. I can also state that I am quite good at taking shelter in old storerooms and abandoned buildings. [ helpful! ]
<3!!
Still, ]
It's hard for me to imagine what that must have been like.
I've lived in places that weren't home, but that was because I'd never had a real home before now.
[ That's the part of it that might bother her most - the losing. Growing out of? Becoming... no longer welcome? None of them sit right with her; they're antithetical to what a home should be, by her definition. ]
Even if it isn't worth much, I'm sorry that things turned out that way for you.
But if you're trying to learn a different way of living, this is a very good place to practice.
Although I'm sure you know that by now, if you've already gotten a head start.
[ Old storerooms and abandoned buildings count! It's not like she has any room to criticize considering how long she lived in a run-down mansion forgotten in the woods. ]
