A question, if I may... Does anyone look out to a formal settlement and find it altogether too dazzling at times? Or, mayhap even too much to trust that it is on offer with nearly no strings attached?

[ hm, likely not a great opener. Yuki tries again, maybe something lighter will work better. ]

Pray forgive the overly serious tone, I was once told to, as she put it, "LIGHTEN UP AND STAY IN THE HOUSE, STOP SNEAKING OUT AND SLEEPING IN THE GARDEN" before coming here.

It is something of a ...

work in progress?
lethechained: (Oh :O ?)

Quite alright! Hope the health stuff in question improves. ;a;

Someone of your position?

[ Is he trying to say he's homeless...? That's a bit concerning, but she's not quick to stick to any assumptions. ]

I see. Well, upsetting other people usually isn't for the better.
Have you tried explaining to them why you do it?

[ If... that explanation would be at all comforting in the first place, that is. ]
lethechained: (calm)

Good to hear!

[ Tilting her head, Naminé hesitates a moment at those first words. Whoever it is that's been objecting, it sounds like they've got his best interests at heart... or their idea thereof, at least. Best to get to the bottom of this, then. The added details, well-- ]

To some people, that would sound like a punishment.

[ It does to her, too - traditional or not. She's trying to keep an open mind, but... ]

And even if you're used to it, that's not the same thing as being happy.

[ Which means that when it comes down to it, the real question is, ]

Do you like sleeping outside?

[ Or is all the pure force of habit? ]
lethechained: (did you really just--)

<3!!

[ Naminé thinks that perhaps they both were right, then, to see it that way - but she's well aware without being told that the tale in question probably is a long one, indeed. She won't pry about it; it's his to volunteer or not to, as many such stories must be for the comfort of their bearers.

Still, ]

It's hard for me to imagine what that must have been like.
I've lived in places that weren't home, but that was because I'd never had a real home before now.

[ That's the part of it that might bother her most - the losing. Growing out of? Becoming... no longer welcome? None of them sit right with her; they're antithetical to what a home should be, by her definition. ]

Even if it isn't worth much, I'm sorry that things turned out that way for you.
But if you're trying to learn a different way of living, this is a very good place to practice.
Although I'm sure you know that by now, if you've already gotten a head start.

[ Old storerooms and abandoned buildings count! It's not like she has any room to criticize considering how long she lived in a run-down mansion forgotten in the woods. ]
