Does anyone here know anything about destroying gods? How about stories from your world about spells or artifacts that could strip a god's divinity?

Slay it, of course. Certainly no easy feat, and yet I know of at least one Warrior capable of doing so. They've built up quite a reputation for it, in fact.

Either that, or find an even stronger god.

What's your definition of gods? From my experience, they are just powerful people who tend to be assholes, but perhaps yours is different.

Of course there are those, too, but this particular god is a bit different. It never wanted to be a god, but it became one out of necessity to avert an unacceptable fate. It can't control its destructive power, and so it suffers in darkness where the only one it can hurt is itself.

As most unwilling that come into power seem to do. It isn't an uncommon story.

If it is a god, I would suggest investing serious time into learning and mastering the new abilities granted. To search for a way to die is a waste of potential and it's the highest sign of personal weakness.

Everyone suffers. It builds character.

If not just by one god, then my next guess would be several working together. Unless you know that the gods you're thinking of are resistant to that kind of thing?

An entire war was fought between the gods in my world millenia ago. It would seem that the best answer I have is 'find a stronger god to kill them.'

And even that doesn't guarantee an end to divinity. There's a deceased god in my homeland whose spirit still remains.

'Finding a stronger god' seems to be the most common response I've gotten so far. The problem arises when the god in question is the strongest god.

There's lots of history about the God of Light killing the God of Darkness in my world. I mean it did happen so everything about that battle is carefully written down and translated for people to read.

I'm not sure if the weapon he used is still around, but I think he's the only one that could power it anyway.

Why is he the only one who could power it? Does he still exist in your world?

Oh! That's because it's made from his flesh and bone, I think. Well, that's what the stories say. I think it's actually some technologically advanced swordsmithing thing?? It's pretty amazing from the pictures online of it.

He does still exist and he does help out nations in trouble too! The Dark God he killed over a hundred years ago left lasting remnants of itself on my planet and drained a lot of his energy. So cleansing the land is required by him and his sages. It takes its toll on him so we phrobiest do most of the work.

They may not be mortal, but gods have weaknesses just like humans. It is merely a matter of discovering and exploiting them.

This is true. Unfortunately, no one in my world has yet been able to find the chink in that god's armor. Its greatest weakness is that it can't control its own destructive force, but no one has been able to find a way to use that against it.

[It's an exceptionally tenacious and resilient god, that one.]

It would seem to me that the logical course of action would be to find a way to reflect the god's own destructive power back towards it. If it is true that it is unable to control said force, would the same not hold true if the power was directed towards itself?

Because its existence as a god forces it to retreat from the world and hide itself away because it can't control its own destructive power.
