Why is this such a difficult concept for everyone to grasp?

You said it yourself, this is a "land of dreams". Nothing here is real. It's all part of some elaborate virtual reality system that uses input gleaned directly from the users.

It's not that difficult to figure out... rather ingenious, really.

What appears in a simulation is only limited by it's coding and any adaptability that is built into the system. As I stated before, if you bothered to read it, this environment is being formed based on the collective influence of anyone currently connected. Essentially.
