I suppose you would be correct! Experience is not easily learned from books.

Granted, acknowledging that, we should find him a suitable candidate who has such experience.

I don't think you need to phrase it like that.

You've likely learned a great many things in speaking with people today. And perhaps some individuals have shown their interest from this journal entry.

Maybe they aren't even quite alike in the way your friend expects - but they might have interests that broaden his horizons when he learns of them. For example, maybe they like music and he's unfamiliar, or maybe they've traveled to many other worlds and they speak together of them.

Or, perhaps he doesn't get on with any of the people today. That's all right, too. There's always something to be learned, even when things don't work perfectly.

If you should try again, think of it not as a do-over where you discard everything previously. Instead, think of it as a revised experiment - where you move forward and take on what you've learned today.

Yes. That's true of anything, of course, but ... without any offense meant, it seems that there were a lot of factors you hadn't considered when you wrote this entry in your magic journal.

That shows that you care about your friend, though. You acted without thinking it through, but you did so wanting to help him. You're a good friend to him.
