[Futaba's writing is... something. We'll leave it at that. She's pretty excited though, and she's ready to find others who are just as excited for ✨TECHNOLOGY✨ as she is here.]
Sooooo we all know that this place has no computers or internet or anything which is the actual worst, right? Unless of course you don't know what those ARE, but you will in a moment.
If we're talking computers, I got my laptop back! But with no electricity, I can't really keep it charged unless I kinda use up all my dreamotion energy, which isn't really a great long-term solution. Once we can figure out a better sustainable way to power it, or just figure out electricity, it won't be a problem. (If you wanna see what a computer is in a small package, lemme know. I'll even take it apart for you!) I know there were some crystals or something that gave off dreamotion energy or something that someone found? TELL ME ABOUT THEM, I wanna know how they work!!!
And well, an internet is probably a long way off, but I wouldn't mind having that as a pet project, if other people who know what it is can help me figure it out. I don't really wanna get into the hyper specifics of how it works, doing a whole TED talk on it isn't in the cards right now, but! Imagine being able to find something if we can connect to a network, or even— even some old vintage-style websites! Man, does anyone even make websites like GeoUrbs anymore?
Uh... anyway. So if anyone has some ideas for a good way to change dreamotion into sustainable energy or to figure out how to get it to work like electricity, lemme know because I have a very big itch to play some games but a battery life of like two hours isn't great.
[Look the latest version of Concluding Fantasy isn't going to play itself here, nor is all of her anime going to watch itself.]

Geeze, I had to do a doubletake at the name. You sounded just like my little brother with all that smartsy stuff. He'd probably be going crazy here without internet though. Or Anime. lol
So you're able to power that stuff with our dreampower junk? I wonder what else that junk can do. Or maybe someone with more strength could charge it better. Oh wait no. This dumb place kinda made us all on similar levels didn't it. huh.

[She's pretty proud of herself for already thinking ahead, really.]
Yeah, so I've heard. I haven't really messed with it, but if I had to, this would be why. I bet you could zap someone from far away though, if you tried! It'd be a good way to tell someone to bug off, I think.

Those crystals reacted to any sort of dream energy nearby. I assume they used to act like storage for that energy, but they have long since run out of power when we examined them.
no subject
His answer gives her some food for thought, and it's a little bit while she mulls it over. Kazuma's going to see some diagrams pop up as she writes it out, hopefully to start connecting the dots.]
So when you went near it, it started generating energy? You didn't have to focus your energy into it? Tell me as much as you can!
no subject
I suspect they needed a lot more power than what just the two of us could have done.

As for the battery, I remembered I was attempting to invent a power source that doesn't require charging or winding up like clockwork. I may be able to resume my work on that thanks to the hat maker, so perhaps one day I could test a prototype on your device if you'd let me. What do you say?
no subject
[It's not quite a smartphone, but it's similar and that's what matters here. Hearing his proposal in figuring out the power source though... perfect.]
We can help each other out for the power source for sure. I can't really take apart the battery or the plug for my laptop 'cause that's dangerous, but I can at least show you and tell you how it works. Two heads are better than one, right? But as long as you let me check over anything so it doesn't damage my laptop, I don't see why not. Not that I don't trust you, but fixing a laptop with no available parts here would be hard.

[ He does carry that toolbelt around with him, but no guarantee they will be the right size tools for this purpose. ]
Of course. As someone who works with electrical wiring on the side, I understand how dangerous such things would be if assembled improperly. [ Speaking from personal experience here... ] I'll let you know when I manage to get it in workable condition.

My apologies, but would you mind elaborating on what a computer and a laptop are? I can gather from context that they are devices which rely on electricity to function, but I am unfamiliar with your vernacular.
no subject
[...Futaba please.]
But a computer is a lot of hardware in a box that can do a lot of things. Play games, find information quickly if you have internet connections... originally they were for computing things quicker than a human could and took up entire rooms, but now they can fit on a desk and get even smaller in a laptop form.
[Better than just "a laptop is a tiny computer"!]
It's probably easier to show, but without a consistent power source I wouldn't be able to do much before the battery dies out.
no subject
Thank you, I understand now! I also have a laptop too, now that I think about it.
[ Excitedly, Zelda imprints an image of the Sheikah Slate onto the page. Futaba might recognize what looks like a tablet in an elaborate case with a handle on one side. ]
It's the only one of its kind in my world, but it works just like your lap computer, I believe. It is capable of doing things like quick computations, collecting and storing data, and issuing commands to other machines via remote communication.

You're going to recreate the internet out of those dream crystals? Is that even possible?
no subject
[She can. Probably maybe figure it out, with some help. She's done other crazy things, why not making the internet?]
no subject
But I wonder if it's a good idea to expose these fine Dreamworld people to Reddit. Don't you think enough chaos is going on right now?
[That's meant to be a joke, mostly.]

Fortunate that you managed to at least regain some sort of computer. I imagine my world's technology is far too incompatible with this world for it to properly manifest. Very irritating.
As for the power issue, I'm working on studying the local technology and the crystals powering them to see if it might be possible to adapt them for other purposes. Do you happen to have anything amongst the new pieces of local technology you're unlikely to use?
no subject
[Because now that has her curious. Something more advanced than her own time on Earth? She needs to hear about it.]
Hm, I don't have anything personally, but someone told me about some of the crystals attached to things. If I can get my hands on something like that, would that work?
no subject
And that would be very handy, particularly if the crystals remained attached to their original devices for full study. I'm trying to understand not just the crystals themselves but how their energy is channeled out of them to the devices they power.

Without the companies themselves here, there would be no way to get updates or expansions.
no subject
[Look, updates or not as long as they run, it'd be fine!!!]
I guess it'll only really be irritating if I have a version with some game-breaking bug or something, but hopefully that wouldn't happen.
...right?

We will likely see a number of unique systems and devices brought in by other dreamers. There may not be enough consistency to connect to a central server.

I might not know them, but what kind of games do you play?

[A risk, but... if they can figure out things, maybe it'll be worth the sacrifice? Maybe she can get a new part each time the tapirs let her get something back from their world? Huh... she'd have to try if something went wrong!]
There's a great Featherman R game that I really love! It's a co-op game for raiding and stuff. I feel like I've missed a ton of things in it for how long I've been away, though. I hope the good banners haven't left, if I can even connect to the servers. What about you?
